While Wimbledon ladies take to the courts today as the competiton begins its second day, a gang of handsome husbands and boyfriends will be cheering their partners on.

The Covid-19 pandemic has restricted the number of attendees for the prestigious tennis tournament, but  it's still likely to attract a dream guest list of A-listers of royalty, as well as players loved-ones, to the stands. 

Leading the way will be Alexis Ohanian, who will be on hand to support wife and Meghan Markle's BFF Serena Williams.

Meanwhile Bromley footballer Courtney Duffus will be rooting for British girlfriend Heather Watson as she takes to the court.  

Wimbledon fans will be cheering from the stands as the two-week tennis tournament gets underway today - but no one will be more excited than the players' proud plus-ones. (Pictured left, Michal Hrdlicka who will be rooting for his partner Karolina Pliskova and right, Martin Hromkvoic, who will be sure to support girlfriend Belinda Bevic in the contest)

Former Everton youth player Courtney Duffus has been dating British tennis star Heather Watson for little over two years now.  

She previously revealed in an interview: 'Since we met each other we're both doing a lot, lot better. He's had a big part to play – he's super positive.

'I don't like to let boys have too much influence over me but he has really been a good influence. He's so calm, level-headed.

'I think you all know I'm quite emotional. He's just really, really supportive. He gets up at all hours of the night, he watched all my matches in Hobart. I just need that.

MARTIN HROMKOVIC

Martin played football in Slovakia for OFC Russel Gabčíkovo but retired in 2019.  

The former footballer is now a full-time member of her fitness team, with Belinda previously revealing how the couple manage to keep their work and private life separate.

She said: 'When I work, I really see him as a coach. I hope it stays that way. For him, the job is done when I'm fit. Martin was an athlete himself, a footballer. So he understands well when I'm nervous or tense.'

Hunky heartthrob Joel Cannell has been dating rising star and British player Katie Swan for five years 

Earlier this week Katie Swan became the first British woman to come through qualifying at Wimbledon for 20 years with victory over Australia's Arina Rodionova. 

Dating for five years, both Swan and Cannell regularly publish sweet images of their time together, which can be rare with both young players establishing themselves on their respective tennis circuits. 

It's been a challenging few years for Joel, who nearly lost his life to malaria. He contracted the disease through a mosquito bite in Nigeria in October 2018 and nearly died. 

Dating for five years, both Swan and Cannell regularly publish sweet images of their time together, which can be rare with both young players establishing themselves on their respective tennis circuits

Katie previously revealed:  'It was really scary. I was actually in China when found out that he had it and he was taken straight into hospital and for a few days it was really on edge because he was diagnosed with the worst strain.

'There are four different strains of malaria and he had the worst one which can be fatal if you don't catch it early enough. He was in hospital for about a week and then after that its just been a long recovery for him.

'He's much better, he's still recovering. His malaria can take up to a year to fully recover physically.'

The Ukrainian former world No.3 posted a shot of their pair together, adding: 'YES! to the beginning of our forever.'

At the time, Michal was working as a  Czech TV presenter and ended up asking Karolina for her autograph before they started chatting and exchanged numbers. 

The couple dated for three years before Michal, who is now working as Karolina's agent, popped the question at their home in 2017.

They went on to tie the knot in a lavish ceremony in Monte Carlo in July 2019.

Earlier this month it was announced Stan Wawrinka's bid to complete the career Grand Slam set will have to wait another year, with the Swiss star ruled-out of Wimbledon with a foot injury.

The 36-year-old was forced to miss the French Open this month as he continues to recover following surgery on his left foot in March.

Wawrinka has appeared at the All England club 15 times, reaching the quarter finals twice during his peak years between 2014 and 2016.

However it's possible he'll be cheering on rumoured girlfriend Garbiñe Muguruza as she competes in Wimbledon.
