Over 1500 biotechnology experts took part in BIOTECHMED 2017 in Russia

MOSCOW, RUSSIA, September 21, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ -- During the conference, participants discussed the prospects for the pharmaceutical industry development till 2035, the problems of regulating drug circulation in Russia as well as formation of the industry’s investment. Several agreements were signed as part of the Conference. Denis Valentinovich Manturov, the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, Veronika Igorevna Skvortsova, the Minister of Health of the Russian Federation, Sergey Viktorovich Chemezov, the Head of the State Corporation Rostec, Veniamin Ivanovich Kondratyev, the Governor of Krasnodar region, Elena Astrakhantseva, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation and Dmitry Valentinovich Morozov, the Director General of BIOCAD were among the Conference participants.

The BIOTECHMED conference, which took place in Gelendzhik for the second year in a row, had positioned itself as a flagship platform for discussing the development of the pharmaceutical industry, biotechnology and healthcare in general. The Conference is organized with the support of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, and the State Corporation Rostec. Over 20 round tables and panel sessions were organized as part of the forum this year. The themes for discussion included such topics as "New Drugs Circulation", "Development of New Immunobiological Treatments", "Innovative Medical Equipment", "Presentation of Domestic Drugs to the Foreign Markets", "Exports of Medical Services in the Russian Federation (medical tourism) ","Vaccination Prevention Measures: Dialogue between the Society and the State. Prospects for the Expansion of the NCPV (National Calendar of Preventive Vaccinations)"," Antimicrobial Resistance: A New Threat to Humanity "and others.

The participants summed up the intermediate results of the pharmaceutical industry development and outlined the priorities for the next 18 years within the framework of the panel session. "We have already developed 30 drugs that are being prepared for clinical studies for the diseases that require immune system correction, primarily oncology, autoimmune, allergic and hereditary diseases, including degenerative and neuromuscular diseases," Veronika Igorevna Skvortsova, the Minister of Health of the Russian Federation was quoted as saying. The Minister also added that Russia plans to simplify the registration of the pharmaceuticals which showcase a breakthrough in treatment.

According to Denis Valentinovich Manturov, the Minister of Industry and Trade, the share of domestically manufactured pharmaceuticals on the Russian market has reached 32%, while the share of domestic medical products is estimated at 20%. "In 2012, we started with 13%," the Minister noted. "The current share of domestic drugs in the VEDL (Vital and Essential Drugs List) is 83%, and by the end of 2018 this figure is forecast to grow to 90%."
Sergey Viktorovich Chemezov, the General Director of the State Corporation Rostec said that the company intends to start manufacturing anti-oncology "digital medicines" by 2020. "First experimental samples already exist. We will be ready to start introducing them within 2-3 years and maybe even earlier, first of all, for the treatment of deadly cancer diseases. These new technologies will largely determine the face of domestic biomedicine both in the coming decades and in the distant future," Chemezov stated.

During the second day of the Conference, the representatives of the State Corporation Rostec and its subsidiaries signed several agreements with the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation as well as foreign companies aimed at developing the digital healthcare system and localization of vital and essential drugs.
The signing ceremony took place in the presence of Veronika Igorevna Skvortsova, the Minister of Health of the Russian Federation and Sergei Viktorovich Chemezov, the General Director of the Rostec State Corporation.

Additionally, the Industry Development Fund signed an agreement with the NPO "Konversiya" on cooperation to develop government measures to support the manufacturers. The document was signed Roman Petrutsa, Director of the IDF and Sergey Astafurov, General Director of NGO “Konversiya”.
An educational session for students and young scientists was organized on the first day of the Conference. Vadim Vladimirovich Tarasov, Ph.D., Director of the Institute of Pharmacy and Telemedicine made a presentation on "Innovative medicines: from development to registration" while Vasily Vyacheslavovich Ryazhenov, Ph.D,. Head of the Department of Management and Economics of Pharmacy presented a report on "Innovative medicines: from state registration to the patient".
Working meeting on the Prospects for the development of digital health technologies, the exchange of experience in implementing health informatization in the development of the Unified State Health Information System in 2015-2018 took place on the first day of the Conference under the direction of Elena Boyko, the Director of the Department of Information Technologies and Communications of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation. 93 experts from 52 regions of Russia including Krasnodar, Kaliningrad, Ulyanovsk, Tula, Kirov regions attended the meeting. The participants presented successful cases from their regions and spoke about the solutions they used. The BIOTECHMED conference was specifically selected as the venue for this meeting.

Additionally, a press conference of Ilya Barinov, the Acting Deputy Prime Minister of the Kaliningrad region, Alexander Kravchenko, the Minister of Health of the Kaliningrad Region and Timur Akhmerov, the General Director of BARS Group JSC (a subsidiary of the National Information Center) took place as part of BIOTECHMED. The organizers spoke about the implementation of the "Lean Polyclinic" project in the Kaliningrad region and the role of "BARS Group" in the implementation of the Unified State Health Information System (USHIS).

Tina Kandelaki, the general producer of "Match TV" and Eduard Bezuglov, the Chief doctor of the Russian national football team made a presentation titled "Sport medicine on TV: experience and perspectives". The presentation was very well received by the Conference participants.
Overall, guests from 52 regions participated and representatives of more than 300 companies participated BIOTECHMED 2017.
