Alicorp A : We form an alliance against the El Niño Phenomenon
The arrival of the El Niño Phenomenon is a fact for which we must be prepared, since heavy rains can generate floods and deteriorate infrastructure. That is why Alicorp, in alliance with Juguete Pdiente and Acción contra el Hambre, signed an agreement to support the common pots of Piura and Lima.
"At Alicorp we recognize that common pots perform an important role in helping when emergency situations occur, therefore, we are working together with our allies on issues of prevention and attention to the El Niño Phenomenon," said Malena Morales, vice president of Corporate Affairs. from Alicorp.
Through this alliance, we seek to confront the El Niño Phenomenon from various angles. On this occasion, priority has been given to common pots located in highly vulnerable areas in Piura and Lima. It is estimated that the alliance will benefit 5 thousand people, through the training of approximately 270 community pot leaders in these two regions.
"We are working on strengthening the prioritized common pots in Lima. For this reason, we will work on the creation of emergency brigades in the communal pots, with which we will continue developing the leadership capacities of the ladies who organize the pots in their neighborhoods," commented Vanessa Vásquez, director of Juguete Pendiente.
The training will strengthen the response capabilities of the common pots in the event of an emergency. These spaces will address topics such as preparation and response to natural disasters, as well as the prevention and care of vector diseases such as dengue, malaria and Zika. In addition, food kits will be delivered to common pots and hygiene kits will reach affected families. These actions will be accompanied by disease prevention and emergency preparedness campaigns through various channels.
"Thanks to Alicorp, food equivalent to 450 thousand rations will be delivered that will reach 5,000 beneficiaries of the common soup kitchens. The climate phenomena have already seriously affected those who live in the northern region of the country, and with the arrival of the El Niño Phenomenon, it will be even worse," commented América Arias, director of Action Against Hunger in Peru.
Alicorp remains committed to strengthening the capacities of community pot leaders and promoting the sustainable development of communities.
